About me

CHIHOBIRD

I was born in Tokyo, Japan, I graduated from Musashino Art University.

Since 2007, I have been teaching art at a private studio in Singapore, working with students ranging from children to adults. While helping students develop technical skills, I place equal importance on nurturing careful observation, critical thinking, and authentic self-expression, always respecting each student's individuality, interests, and pace of learning.

As an artist, my work explores the human mind and the relationships between people. I have exhibited in both Japan and internationally, and actively engage in interdisciplinary projects, including live painting performances and collaborations with writers, musicians, and performers.

Alongside my studio practice, I have facilitated numerous art-based workshops at hospitals, NGOs, and community organizations in Singapore. Drawing on mindfulness and wellbeing approaches, these workshops encourage observation, dialogue, creativity, and self-expression for participants of all ages.

For me, teaching and artistic practice are deeply interconnected. The discoveries and questions that emerge through making art continually enrich my teaching, while the diverse perspectives I encounter in the classroom inspire my creative work. Through both education and artistic practice, I seek to create opportunities for people to connect with themselves, with others, and with the world through art.
